10 YEARS? 10 YEARS!

Every year, July 4th rolls around and the internet lights up with fireworks and celebrations, at least in the United States. But here, in my little corner of Canada, July 4th means something entirely different. It’s not about sparklers or barbecues. It’s about the quiet, steady flame that was lit in 2016 when I opened the doors to my small massage therapy practice for the very first time. It’s the day I took a leap with nothing but a treatment table, a dream, and the hope that maybe, just maybe, people would show up. And somehow, here we are. Ten years later. A full decade. Ten years of learning, growing, laughing, crying, stretching, both physically and personally, and pouring my heart into a career that has given me more meaning than I could have ever imagined.

Looking Back at Where It All Began:
I remember that very first day with ridiculous clarity. My space was tiny, my nerves were huge, and my booking schedule was almost a blank page. I didn’t have much, just determination, training, and this deep belief that I was meant to help people feel better in their own bodies. One client came. Then another. And another. And slowly, this fragile little seed of a business grew roots.

The Journey… And All The Moves Along the Way:
Of course, the road wasn’t always smooth. Some people open a business and stay in the same space for years. Me? I took the scenic route. I moved. Then I moved again. And again. Each location taught me something different, shaped my practice in its own way, and pushed me to keep evolving. Every move felt like uprooting a piece of myself, but each new space also felt like a fresh chapter. And the most beautiful part? So many of you moved right along with me. You followed me through each transition, each adjustment, each new address scribbled into your calendars. Your loyalty through every relocation is one of the biggest reasons this business is still here a decade later. I carried my table, but you carried my confidence

The Heart of This Work: You!
Over the years, I’ve realized that massage therapy is really a collection of shared moments. It’s not just muscles and fascia, it’s people. It’s connection. It’s trust. It’s the client who comes in after a long day and finally exhales. It’s the pregnant parent who needs relief and reassurance. It’s the TMJ warrior who can finally open their jaw without pain. It’s the person going through something heavy who just needs an hour of peace. It’s the ones who walk in stiff and walk out saying, “I feel human again.” These moments are why I do what I do. They’ve shaped me more than any course or textbook ever could.

How This Work Has Changed Me:
Ten years as an RMT has grown me in ways younger-me could never have predicted.
I’ve learned how to listen, not just with my ears, but with my hands, my intuition, and my presence. I’ve learned patience, empathy, boundaries, balance, and how to show up for people in a way that honours both them and myself. I’ve learned that healing isn’t just physical, it’s emotional, mental, and sometimes deeply personal. And through all of it, I’ve learned who I am as a practitioner and as a person. This work has softened me in some places, strengthened me in others, and grounded me in gratitude daily.

A Decade of Meaningful Moments:
I’ve supported new parents and later massaged their babies. I’ve helped clients through injuries, surgeries, setbacks, and triumphs. I’ve listened to life stories, whispered guidance, offered comfort, and witnessed growth. I’ve shared laughter, tears, and countless quiet moments of relief. Every one of these memories lives in the walls of my practice, and in my heart.

Looking Forward With So Much Hope:
If the first ten years were about building, learning, and becoming, then I hope the next ten are about blooming, deepening my skills, expanding my knowledge, growing with my clients, and continuing to offer a space where people feel safe, supported, and cared for. I’m excited for the new faces I’ll meet, the new techniques I'll learn, and the new stories I’ll be trusted with. I don’t know exactly what the next decade will look like, but I know the heart behind this business isn’t going anywhere.

To My Clients: Thank You
Thank you for trusting me with your bodies, your pain, your stress, your stories, your time, and your loyalty, especially through every move, every milestone, and every chapter.
Thank you for helping me turn July 4th into something far more meaningful than a holiday to our neighbours to the south of us. It’s the anniversary of one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s the day a dream took root. It’s the day this journey began.

Here’s to ten years of healing, connection, and growth. And here’s to the next decade, whatever beautiful things it decides to bring.
